I.V. By the Sea

My contribution for this months GJWP theme from a poem by ee cummings: "Maggie and Milly and Molly and May." The phrase was: "For whatever we lose (like a you or a me), it's always ourselves that we find in the sea."

Bride In Motion 6" x 6"

The Girls Just Wanna Paint Challenge this month was "White," and I thought of doing a white on white type of painting....but was bored by all of the options I came up with...then I thought, gee, my son was married recently and my daughter-n-law's gown and veil seemed the natural choice.

Easter Tulips 12"x36"

My Mom bought these tulips for me as a decoration for Easter...and they blossomed so beautifully. I painted these from life but took some photos before they lost their bloom and would like to paint them again perhaps. So cheery!

Corner Take Out 6"x6"

The theme was "Sunlight" for this month's "Girls Just Wanna Paint" challenge...I see this little place daily on my way to work and what strikes me is the sunlight, particularly when stark shadows are cast against it....I don't know if I'd eat there, but I sure love seeing it.

Corona Beer 6"x6"

So the theme for our Girls Just Wanna Paint group for February was "Tropical." Tori Brega chose the theme this month because of the nature of this particular February....massive amounts of snow delivered all at once with a couple of servings of severe Nor'Easters....leaving many of us without power in some cases for days at a time. It was a difficult month for many and so, "Tropical" provided a potential mini-escape. Not for me. I just couldn't shake the fact that winter finally showed up, and it was going to let us know it was here. I pass by this place in downtown Brockton, MA on my way to work sometimes, and it seemed somewhat ironic...I guess Corona beer is also supposed to provide a mini-escape also. In a way, seeing the sign did on that cold day with snow banks in front of the locked up building.

Fuzzy Hat/Cowl Neck Sweater

This lady was at a brunch that I attended last weekend...she had a nice style with her furry hat and dramatic cowl neck. She graciously allowed me to take a photo to attempt a painting...Such long lashes too!
