Maggie's Farm

It's really not Maggie's farm...but Maggie works there and she told me about it! The animals were doing what they do best, moving around (rather than pose for these sketches), but that was part of the challenge...and the fun....The colors didn't reproduce that well here, they are more vivid. (Thanks Connie for allowing me to paint at your lovely farm today)! The goat is 20"x24", the chickens 20"x20".

You captured the feeling of the farm. I like the shapes and forms of the animals on the farm.

Thanks Robin, I can't wait to go back to paint the sheep and the cows!

Great sketches - what you have captured beyond the goat and chicken image is a sense that it would be fun to be sketching them.

Thanks, I brought 2 canvases (canvasses?)with me because I wasn't sure which proportion would be better...ha! These guys moved so quickly and frequently I went back and forth between canvases because both of these animals were fortunately penned adjacent to each other. I would do this again in a heartbeat, and will be going back to paint the cows and sheep. Thanks for visiting my blog!

My first thought was the Bob Dylan song,"I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.."
I remember Maggie telling us about that farm. Looks wonderful.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my blog, Paula.

Hi Paula!
LOVE the paintings! Yes, they are "impressionistic", but, I love the color-you have captured their "Vibrant" nature!
I wonder if you would be willing to send a link to Connie with this blog link? She and her husband, Ron, would like to post it for the Farm boxers at Colchester Farm.
They also plan to come to open studios in November.
Will send Connie's email to your email!
Thanks!

p.s. Hi Mary Sheehan-Winn!

You really caught the staccato movement of the chickens. I love their little shapes!

Thanks Kelley, staccato is a great word for their kind of movement which just doesn't stop...a challenge indeed...
