The Independent 16"x20"

While travelling through Guanajuato last spring, Kelley and I came across this little group of burros and horses. This one wasn't actually pink, purple, aqua, etc... just when he ended up on my canvas. I had been meaning to paint these guys for awhile but after perusing Frank Gardner's blog last week and seeing his "True Blue" image, I was inspired to get going on this little painting...I think it's 16x20 or so. Check his blog entry:

Oh, I really prefer to think there is a cute pink and aqua burro running around in the world somewhere! I love it.

Great job, Paula, and I was going to mention Frank's blog entry to you! I'm still smarting from not being able to bring my photos home.

Wow, Paula, after looking at your paintings it seems that they couldn't have been painted in any other way. The colors give them life and that's why I always look forward to more of your work.

Thanks Carol, Robin, Kelley, and Deb. I wasn't really sure about this painting as it was developing and thought about scrapping it b/c I was afraid it was overworked. I'm glad I stuck with it though, I was definitely premature in my initial assessment. Painting is ALWAYS such an adventure! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Were you just traveling or did you take a workshop with Frank??
Love the psychedelic donkeys AND the filmmaker's scene.
Pretty cool to follow your son's adventures on internet media!! You must be proud too!
Did you change your avatar?? I like what's up there now.. but I don't remember it from before.
I'll be back. Be well

Hi Marian! I was travelling with a friend to visit another friend who was a painting teacher to both of us a long while ago. She winters in San Miguel and we have visited her to paint a few times over the past few years. It's absolutely beautiful there! Unfortunately, I had not yet discovered Frank's blog before I visited, but his paintings bring me right back to Mexico!
