I really have been painting, but I won't have anything to post for awhile. I found these sketches I did in an evening drawing session awhile ago and thought, what the heck...I think I'll post 'em. as the title states, they were two minute poses...I don't know why I don't take advantage of this opportunity more often, it's clearly beneficial and it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a little more practice in...plus, it's a fun group.

I love the poses, they are so different and yet so divinely exquisite. Makes me long for those days of sketching in college. I think 2 minute poses can bring out the best in us, tapping into our hidden gifts. And being with a group always good to have that artistic energy around us.

Thanks Jeanne, Marian, Manon, Butterfly Woman, Liz, and Kelley! This is a casual, non-instructional workshop run by one of the members of our association who happens to have a huge studio. The sessions alternate from a long pose where everyone paints to the short pose sessions for drawing. Kelley...they are at Mary's building...c'mon up!

I really love these two minute poses I will post mine on my blog soon. Sometimes I think they are not worth posting but looking at yours I realise they are quite interesting to see. Somehow they have so much movement and life in them, much more than a longer drawing conveys.

Carolann, looking forward to seeing your figure sketches. I think you're right, the shorter poses have more of a spirit to them because we are really trying to get the essence of the pose along with sharpening our seeing/drawing skills. Thanks for visiting!
Wow Paula, these are great sketches, and in two minutes. Scary what can be possible in such a short time. Of course it doesn't hurt to have your amazing talent!
Hey thanks Vern!Not so amazing, but you are right, it is funny what can be accomplished in two short minutes. Sometimes I think those sketches are better because they are loose and free.
I keep meaning to begin practcing the human form...I must do that some day. Nice sketches.

You know, I think I prefer these pencil sketches over your paintings - there;s something freely raw about them, almost straight from the mind, but bypassing a lot of conscious scrutiny.

Wow, I am lucky if I get a limb and part of a torso done in 2 min sketches. These show your talent off nicely.
