8-12" of snow was predicted for today and it arrived as expected. Home all day, I found an 11x14 canvas and some white objects and placed them on a white background...I think it will be a good idea to paint still life set ups more regularly...a great excercise in seeing and drawing...and, last but not least, coloration...I also looked down at our welcome mat and liked the way the packed snow emphasized the pattern. March in the northeast isn't for sissies.

oooh all that white is scary! My worst night mare:-) Great job!
Wonderful work!
Snow in your end of the country certainly isn't for sissies! I'm from Canada so I know this all to well! The good thing about snow this time of year is that there's an end in sight!
Paula's painting! Yay! or at least you're posting what you're painting. Love your stuff young lady.
Thanks ladies...looking forward to Spring!
WOW kind of ............liked it much..
This really gave me the urge to do a painting with whites (especially after the mostly-darks one I just did). Soooo beautiful! Love your shadows and the edges of them. Yes, I need to do some still-lifes myself. A really successful one like this makes me want to do one, too.
Thanks Camille..I'm seeing the value of still life painting here and there for an excercise (or a nice painting of some cool stuff!)...plus it was kind of fun!
Such a challenge - and you did a great job! Love the 'double shadows'. Love the 'all-white-no-white'. Spring, and renewal - I could sure use some of THAT right now! :)
Paula, I love Eat at Joe's, and as usual...the colors! Wow.
Your doormat gave me another idea for a stamp. Do you mind if I use it as a reference?
Hi Deb...PLEASE, PLEASE feel free to use the doormat photo as a reference for your stamp idea. In this particular case, I wanted to demonstrate that inspiration may be found just about anywhere. Good luck!
Hello, in Italy today is the feast of the woman, GREETINGS!
Hey thanks Gianlucio! I guess that means I'd better go celebrate!
good morning Paula! love the white on white - that combo always feels so serene to me.
Still life is something i'm still a little afraid to tackle - but it's on my list - i love the idea of using monochrome palette - whther it's all white or yellow...etc. Good work.
Steve
It always amazes me that in the USA the weather is so different and varied. It is so vast a country! Sometimes it's a shame when bloggers just put USA and I wonder whereabouts they are. I have to look at an atlas and work out the different states, I get International Artist magazine to see all the American Artists out there.
Hi Paul,
White is always challenging for me too. Like they say, snow has so many colors and hues. I love the little pig you painted. This painting brings back memories of my college days of doing still lifes. Painting grapes quickly before they rotted, always a challenge.
Interesting arrangement of objects. I love your work, I'll be back to visit!
I love this teapot! So cool.
hard to believe we are still seeing snow and it's nearly april! love your whites.
Paula, I have been collecting white objects for years and am finally getting up my nerve to paint White on White.
Great job on one of my favorite genres.
