Little Light

This little 6"x6" painting was for last month's "Girls Just Wanna Paint" Challenge...It's the only time I paint this small, but I have to say, it's been a good experience. Because I'm not accustomed to painting real small sizes, I made my own little challenge up and decided I wouldn't use any small brushes...well, I do start with a large round and I keep with that for the most part. I have used smaller brushes, but not tiny...I just don't want the image to get "uptight..." an easy thing to do.

Most of what I paint is small--with small brushes (0-000 sometimes as large as a 1 or 2). I ennvy your loose un-upthight brush strokes.

Very nice rendition...

This is wonderful, Paula. Love the broad expanses of color from using large brushes.

Thanks everyone...and welcome jb...perhaps I should try the little brushes as yet another challenge to see where they take me without getting caught up in details...and Manon...dioxazine purple? Of course! Sheila...my show started January 2 and runs through Feb 28...it's a long stretch but a lovely location...nice to hear from you Carol and Elizabeth! Paint on!

I'm so glad you don't paint tight. I'm not used to seeing this warmer palette in your work -- very nice.
