Here is a sneak peak at a couple of the portraits for an upcoming show we'll be hanging Friday. A small group of us are painting familiar faces from our little town. This is Andrew... ...and this is Shirley...
Beautiful and evocative. Fun to stare at and discover all the little unexpected color details. And so loosey goosey. Love both of these; they make me want to do a portrait today.
Hey thanks everyone, and Marian, I agree...I hope everyone recognizes themselves! (although they seemed to like them while I was painting them...hopefully, they weren't being polite!)
These are wonderful portraits. So full of life and personality! Love the jewel-tones of your work. (a complete aside: also saw you follow the sartorialist. Have you checked out his friend Garance Dore yet? her work's beautiful, too!) Back to you--Vern said it best: these rock!
Welcome Liz and Mim...glad you stopped by! And Liz, I have checked out Garance Dore's work and it is nice. I am not a woman of high style by any means, but I do appreciate it! I guess that's why the Sartorialist is one of my favorite places to check each day. Maybe in another life....(!)

Hello Paula
It is hard to capture character, but you have done so in these two pieces.
Very cleverly painted.
Good luck with the exhib too.
Regards
These are two vibrant portraits. And the colors, like I always say, you have a knack for unusual color combinations that end up looking super.
Great portraits, Paula. I love the painting of Shirley.
Good luck with the show.
Really nice, Paula. I will get to your show - good luck at the Opening!
