Painting Hiatus and Something New

As many of you have read in my comments, I have ended my year of painting as my main focus. With the advent of a new full time job, plus classes in web development, painting is not in the forefront in the practical sense, but it is always with me, whether I am actually painting or for now, just seeing. Anyway, I agreed to join fellow blogger and friend Kelley MacDonald's suggestion of a challenge among her painting posse...with the title, "Girls Just Wanna Paint." Each month one member of the group comes up with a subject for each of us to paint at a size of 6"X6" independently for a range of interpretations. This month, Kelley provided each of us with a starfish and Voila...above is my version. Please visit:  http://girlsjustwannapaint.blogspot.com/  to see some of the other entries. They should all be posted soon. 6x6 is not a size I'm used to, but it seems doable right now.

Love the soft pinks in your starfish. It is hard to go smaller when painting big is your usual choice!
Congrats on your new job... I hope you can still find time to paint once you're more settled in :)

Sorry to hear you are too busy to paint right now. I know I try hard to fit it in but not always possible. I think about it all the time though!

I totally understand about focus and painting time. Jobs and life take the forefront -- that's for sure.

I do hope you continue to grace us with your work every now and again!!

Gosh, Paula, here I was waiting for you to be back and now I find out you won't be. We'll miss you.
I hope you like your new job and that you can find time on a weekend or two to grace us with a few paintings.

Well, next time I post I'll read the other comments before I duplicate what someone says!

Good Luck on your new job--I work full time also so I know it's a challenge to do both. Love your star fish, lovely colors.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that you are on hiatus. But you are an amazing artist and I can't imagine it will be long before you are at it again. Will you still show from time to time? I would still like to get down there for one. Good luck in the new chapter

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. Oddly enough, I'm not real sad, I'm enjoying my job so far and I miss painting but the break might be good as long as it's brief...please say tuned....!

Paula, you are an artist in your soul. I admire you tremendously for doing what you hafta, without complaint.
Your paintings are unique and I should think you could have a sellout solo show.

Thanks Mary, and as you know, you totally ROCK! Anyway, about that sellout solo show...I do have a solo show coming up in January in Cohasset! Hope you're still in the area!

Still miss you! :-(

Thanks Katy, and please stay tuned...the learning curve at work is waning and I have begun to schedule some time in the studio for the week after Labor Day...polar opposite to last summer in which I was behind the easel almost daily!

Glad to hear you'll still be painting some, Paula. Sounds like a fun challenge, and glad to hear you're part of a painting posse! :-) I know how limited painting time can be.

Paula!

It's sad to hear about your painting hiatus but at least it sounds like you have other creative things to keep you busy.

An occasional painting from you here and there still would be nice to see!

All the best to you in your endeavors. I love this sweet Starfish. It makes me want to take an umbrella and go have a beach day with my book. A nap even...
